We stayed two nights at The Inn at Gore Bay; I wanted to stay longer. It was an exceptional visit.The rooms are quiet, well-appointed and spacious and the view (we had an upper level room) is fantastic if you like water, boats, lake vistas and wildlife. The bed was the highlight of the stay (at least the in-room part). It is decadently comfortable and luxurious. Yes, there is a TV but looking out over the bay was more interesting. The nearby boardwalk takes you into town easily and over interesting wetland terrain. The room came with breakfast each morning. It is highly recommended that you not skip breakfast - just go have a croissant (if you can stop at one); they were the best I've had in a very long time. There was local pork sausage on the menu as well that was a meal in itself. We enjoyed a dinner for four on the second evening (reservations are recommended) that satisfied each of us (mussels, duck and whitefish) followed by desserts that featured wild blueberries, coconut creme and beautiful presentation (well-done chef Patrick!).Things I'd look for next time to make the visit even better? Stronger coffee although the decaf after dinner was served in a French press and was excellent (because we could control the strength of the brew). A note in the room that points out the many USB charging ports available in the lamps and behind the bedside tables. We found the ones behind the tables by accident when we were looking for electrical outlets - fantastic idea! Other than that our stay was luxuriously relaxing. I'll be back. Soon I hope. Definitely worth the 8-hour drive from Ottawa . . . heck the croissants were worth the drive.
We were visiting during the day so we didn't see the rooms. The facility was well maintained and looked nice. The gift shop was full of beautiful art work, and there is a very nice fine dining restaurant on site. We would happily stay here next time we are in Gore Bay.
Jaw dropping views. Super clean and luxurious rooms. Very friendly staff. Do yourself a favor and go there.
Great little hotel. We came for one night in the middle of our sail trip. Beautiful renovation. Its about a 10-15 min walk from the marina. The rooms were so comfortable and clean. Every room has a perfect view of the bay. Nice original artwork in the rooms. Pretty much everything was perfect. Great staff. Thank you, and we will be back.
Can only comment on the Live Edge restaurant. Lunch was delicious, the service was awesome. Local food served classy. It's Manitoulin, so don't be afraid to show up for a fancy lunch wearing your camping clothes (you won't be turned away and your taste buds will thank you).
